How to set up email on your smartphone

When you add an email account to your smartphone, you can send emails and photos, and receive newsletters, offers and invoices, even when you are out and about or away from a computer.

Email is also better for the environment, and most email accounts are completely free.

Gmail

The first time you start your new Doro smartphone, you are asked to create a Gmail account. Gmail is a free email service from Google. It connects you to many features on your phone, including Google Calendar, Contacts and apps.

You can use Gmail as your main email address, or keep using an account you already have with another provider. You do need a Gmail account for some features, such as downloading apps.

Other email addresses

If you already have an email account with another provider, such as Hotmail, Outlook or Yahoo, you can add it to your phone too.

Check your provider’s website for instructions. They usually include a link called “configure email with Android”.

Attention!

Unfortunately, email accounts can attract spam: junk email, usually sent for commercial purposes. Mark these messages as spam so that they stop appearing in your inbox.

Never open an email from a sender you do not know. It may contain a virus or spyware that can reach private information such as your passwords and account details.

How to add a Gmail account to your Doro smartphone

Select View.
Select My email.
Select Options in the top-right corner.
Select Manage accounts.
Select Add Account.
Enter your email address in the Email Address field.
A message tells you that to add a Gmail address, you must first register your Google account on your phone. Select OK.
Enter your Gmail address in the Email or phone number field and select Next.
Enter your Gmail password and select Next.
Accept the Terms of Service and Security Policy.
Gmail now asks for permission to send, delete and manage your email messages. Select Allow to continue.
Choose your account options and how often your email should synchronise. Every 15 minutes is recommended. Select OK.
Give the account a name and choose the name that will appear in the recipient’s inbox. Select OK.
Select OK to finish.

Your Gmail account is now added to your Doro smartphone.
